Miyamoto Musashi arrives in Kyoto seeking to prove himself unmatched in the way of the sword. Capcom uses the likeness of late Japanese actor Toshiro Mifune as the face model for this portrayal. The story puts Musashi's appetite for combat against a larger question: why does he fight?
Where does the game take place?
The setting is Kyoto in the early Edo period, reworked as a dark-fantasy capital corrupted by clouds of Malice. Official material names real locations such as Kiyomizu-dera Temple and Mount Oe, then twists them with the presence of the Genma.
What are the Genma?
The Genma are monsters described as dwelling in the depths of hell. Malice brings them into the living world, where they terrorize Kyoto. Musashi also faces formidable rivals with martial skill comparable to his own, so the enemy roster is not framed as monsters alone.
What does the Oni Gauntlet do?
The Gauntlet gives Musashi power beyond human limits. Official descriptions confirm that it can absorb Genma souls and turn them into a power source. The Demo also exposes Oni Armament, while revealed abilities such as Oni Strength and Oni Agility connect combat, obstacle-breaking, and traversal.

Capcom presents physical blade contact as the center of the action: Parry, Deflect, the critical Issen cut, and dodges that can build toward a Reflex Combo.
