What the Demo includes
The original Demo sampled Kiyomizu-dera Temple and the Sasaki Ganryu encounter. The August 25 expansion continues beyond that duel with a new location and another boss. The earlier roughly 30-minute description refers to the original slice, not a completion-time estimate for the Expanded Demo.
Parry and Deflect put timing and blade contact at the center of encounters.
Issen, Oni Armament, and soul absorption show how a successful defense can become momentum.
The Demo samples the opening path; Capcom says it differs in some respects from the full game.
Does Demo progress carry over?
No. Official Steam news says you cannot continue from Demo progress in the base game. Treat it as a practice run, not the start of your full-game save.
What do you get for keeping Demo save data?

Keep your Demo save. The reward is separate from story progress, and the cited instructions do not establish cross-platform eligibility.
A useful first run
- Play once without chasing a perfect run. Learn the camera, movement, soul absorption, and basic defensive feedback.
- Replay encounters while focusing on one response at a time: first Parry, then Deflect, then a deliberate Issen attempt.
- Use the Ganryu encounter to read attack cues rather than to infer the final game’s overall difficulty.
- Check that you have the Expanded Demo update if your route ends at Sasaki Ganryu; keep the save for the reward.
What the Demo cannot prove
The Demo is a focused combat sample rather than the full opening. Final balance, the complete weapon roster, progression, total playtime, later bosses, and performance may differ in the released game.
